Treasured Moments

The other day while on our walk along Delray Beach, Larry stopped to look at a lot across the street from the ocean.  Also looking were a father Larry teaches Thatcherand his young teenaged son.

The father asked Larry how much he thought the lot would go for.

“Maybe $1.5 million or probably more.”

The father said he thought it might go around $2 million.

He then told Larry that he was using this as a teaching moment for his 15 year old son. The young man thought it might sell for $150,000.

The son had been admiring the property. His dad was using this moment to teach him about property values as well as show him that people will have different perceptions about a property’s value.

(Maybe this is how some of you got started in real estate!)

What I loved was seeing this father spend time with his son to teach him and share with him what he knew.

These are the moments we treasure the most.

Makes me feel hopeful about the future.

***That’s Larry teaching the fine art of geocaching to our grandson.

Hi Kathy - I'd much rather learn about geocaching than property values - it's a lot more fun : )

Kathy it is those special moments that add value and delight! What is geocaching?  When I come to visit I'll take one of those lessons from Larry!

Kathy,

What a lovely picture of the two boys.  We love seeing our nephew with his two boys and his teaching moments with them.  It transforms fathers into kids again, what a great memory to have.  A

Kathy that father is achieving at least two things.  He is spending quality time with his son, and also teaching him a valuable life lesson.

Kathy, children are like sponges, they soak up whatever is given to them. Early teachings have a huge impact later in life, more time we spend with the young ones, better adults they will be.

Barbara Todaro our good friends had their children working every summer as soon as they arrived at the Jersey shore.  They worked at restaurants and an ice cream shop the day after they arrived until they left.  They're all grown and all hard workers.

Amen. I love my time alone with my son Wyatt. We have great conversations, we always have. He's very open with me, but I suppose I never pass judgment, only wisdom - only when asked. I really enjoyed this post Kathy Streib
