How do you pull yourself out of a slump?

Read the newspapers, watch the news, listen to the radio.  There is a lot of bad publicity for Real Estate these days.

It is easy to get into a slump.  If I am in a slump, I try to do a few things every day, "Plant a few seeds" as they say.

I try to take a couple of days off and go for a few long walks and remind myself how much I enjoy this business.

Getting out and talking to people that I know are positive always helps.

It would be fun to hear from all of you on things that help get you out of a slump,

I think I am going for a nice long walk now.

Have a great weekend & terrific Mother's day.

All the best!

Kevin

Well Kevin, I have to say--first thing I do is turn off the TV-stop reading the newspapers and perpetuating the doom and gloom in my own brain...as agents it is our duty to be informed; yes-but to the point of over doing it---I say...just say no!

Kevin, keeping positive in this business is key.  We have seen many leave the business that couldn't hang either emotionally or financially, and we will survive this, just have to keep your chin up.  I go to the gym or for a run to clear my head and hit it again the next day hard.

I know kevin... i call him when I am in a slump and we laugh and talk our way out of it.  In a market like we are seeing... we are not the only ones.  There is comfort in numbers and every fay there is a chance for a new transaction!  There is also a glass of red wine with a great porter house when all else fails!  Happy Monthers Day

Kevin, I dig your positive attitude. I have to hang around here more often. Power to you for the whole Mayor walking the town grassroots approach. I like that -- very people oriented.

Staying positive can be difficult and no one is positive all the time. If I get in a slump, I relax a little but then I try to re-think things and wonder how can I do something better. I try to fresh approach and start anew. That picks my attitude up.

Kevin, a walk never hurts.  Face to face is always the best way to make our business grow.  Leads, lead generation and lead conversion is my primary focus now.  good luck and stay positive.

Kevin,

Hopefully a few seeds have turned into blooming flowers! Keep the positive faith.  If for nothing else remember that smiling is the key to success (and a good day)!

I think we all get into slumps from time to time, both in personal and business, sometimes being parallel experiences. I like the idea you mention about planting seeds, because that is what I try to do too. Even if you only plant one seed on any given day, it's better than if you didn't do any gardening at all that day. Just  continue to be positive, nurture your seeds and imagine only positive out-comes. Don't consider failure as an option. If you start to think positively about business, things will usually start to pick up soon. Good luck!

You're welcome. I hope you have a good day today. I was very impressed reading about you. I'm sure your great moments far exceed those few bad days!!! Just keep the fertilizer (believing in yourself) handy, it can work miracles! Take Care

Kevin,

Write your goals on an index card with some positive remarks for motivation.  Read them everyday at least 3 times.  You'll see things start to turn around because you really start to believe what you wrote.

Great ideas here. I also try to plant some seeds. another good thing for me is to check your MLS for either listings your turned down, or lost. See that they are still struggling along and know you made the right decision.
