Mothers Day...frost free and planting spree

(Every year as Mothers Day rolls around, I wonder if the Fishing Opener is a gift or a curse to mothers everywhere?)  Personally, I think Mothers Day is the perfect day to begin work in my garden.  In years past,  my son has helped me to aerate and fertilize the lawn, as well as helped to plant our favorites...sunflowers, nasturtium, baby greens, basil, rosemary, thyme, parsley and mint.  There is nothing like a day of yard work followed by a summer dinner eaten Al Fresco. One year we picked out an outdoor table to eat our dinners on! This year the three of us are planning a bigger garden plot with more vegetables.  My husband really wants a small farm...Maybe I will be inspired by his mother's gorgeous garden seen in the picture.  At any rate, I hope the weather cooperates for all of us lucky moms out there.  At least we can be reasonably sure that our efforts won't be wasted...the typical last frost date here in Minnesota is May 15th...Happy Day!
