This is such an appropriate contest topic. One of the most irritating things to me in this business is the telephone. That's right the telephone. Well, not the telephone itself, but the way that people in our industry utilize (or not) said device. Basically communication. There are several instances that come to mind...
The first is when an agent puts his or her telephone number down to schedule a showing, but, they don't answer their phone! I simply do not understand that. What the up side of that type of behavior?
I have run into this issue multiple times. One could assume that the market is so hot that not picking up the phone doesn't matter. But what about the homes that have been on the market for a month or more? My question in this situation is -
What are the Sellers thinking? Are they even aware of the behavior or their agent?"
The second is when you are negotiating within a deal and the other agent basically falls off the edge of the Earth and completely disappears. Do they not understand that we deal with contracts, which have dates? I get that if you haven't gone under contract that the listing agent doesn't call you back. Mind you, I don't condone that type of behavior, but it happens.
I am talking about when you have inspection issues, or appraisal issues and the other agent disappears. SERIOUSLY? Again my question is -
Are the Sellers even aware of the behavior or their agent?"
I've been told that in terms of honestly and believability, that real estate agents rank just barely above used car salesmen. If this type of behavior is as previlent as I think it is, then I can understand that ranking. But is really saddens me as I know plenty of "US" that don't behave in this pathetic way.
