Home Staging Tips- 7 Tips Before You Head North for the Summer
If your home will be on the market while you are up north for the summer there are 7 things you need to do to make sure your home will be sold. These same things hold true even if you’re just going away for a summer vacation.
Even if you will be gone, it is important that you continue to make the presentation of your property of utmost importance.
7 Things You Need to Do Before You Leave Your Property…
1.Keep the Air Conditioner on and relatively low!
Saving pennies on your utility bill could cost you more in the sale. Buyers do not want to view a home that is as hot and muggy inside as it is outside.
2.Do not put your hurricane shutters up.
Nothing says “Come on in” like walking into a darkened home, not to mention the fact that if your shutters are up, it makes it all the more difficult for buyers to walk out to your patio area.
Make arrangements with a company or handyman/woman to take care of this should the need arise.
3.Leave your patio furniture outdoors.
The goal of staging is to show the possibilities of the space. Buyers will need to see the rooms and imagine their own furniture there. Crowding the space with lounge chairs and patio tables defeats this purpose.
4.Make sure that your lawn service is dependable and will not miss their scheduled days to cut.
You know that in Florida, everything grows the minute it is cut. Make sure that your service is maintaining the lawn on your agreed upon schedule and any other maintenance that is required.
5.Leave your buyers some light.
Your home needs to be ready to show when the buyers need to see it. Your agent may not be able to drop everything to turn your lights on and open the blinds.
Put your lights on a timer or ask a friend if they will be responsible for that.
6. If you have a pool, make sure it will be maintained.
Please don’t leave this for your agents. They’re busy working on your behalf but this is way beyond the call of duty.
7. Ask a friend, neighbor or relative if they will come over to check on the house in your absence.
You’ll want them to check on the integrity of the home...is the lawn being maintained, are the sprinklers working, is everything in place?
If the home needs cleaning in your absence, ask them to oversee this.
Whether you’re gone for the season or for a few weeks, make sure that your home still looks its best by following these tips.
