The Only Action Rule that Matters, Mel Robbins; The 5 Second Rule!

Ok so we are all busy, rushing here, rushing there, demands from this person and more demands from that one, so busy that many of the things we want to do never get done.

How many great ideas did you have a year ago that never happened?

They were hot ideas a year ago, but somehow they got pushed aside by your busy demands within a short time and forgotten until now when I reminded you of them.

Mel tells us that the amount of time that we have to act on these ideas is 5 seconds.

Five seconds to take action before these ideas get pushed aside by some other demand or idea.

So take some action Now, like in, within 5 seconds!

  •    Write it down
  •    Walk towards it
  •    Make a call
  •    DO SOMETHING!

So write down this rule right now, give it a try this week, and let me know how it works for you this week.

Interesting. It's true that when I have an idea that I must do (but not at that moment), I do write it down. It's also true that ideas are only there for a fleeting amount of time before disappearing. I'm going to pay more attention to this.

This is true. I've noticed recently that I often get an idea that I think I will come back to, but never do. I'm focusing on taking action immediately whenever possible.
