Have You Cleaned Up Your Listings

By
Real Estate Agent 40CA1147997

Received an email the other day from the local board that we have until May 7th to clean up our listings or expect to be fined.

One of the duties of the listing agent is to verify taxes and input them into the listing and no longer will they be able to put in the private remarks, buyers agent to verify taxes.

Another item that will make life easier is that if a property has an accepted contract it has to be updated in the MLS.

May 8th they will start fining and each day that the listing is not correct the fines will escalate.

A few agents have said they will pay the fines to keep the calls coming in and keep their buyer's agents busy. Wondering what the cutoff point to get the job done correctly will be.

Good morning Raymond.  Our MLS has instituted new fines.  Instead of a slap on the wrist or a 50.00 fine it is now going to 500.00 to 15,000.00....  I think it will get our agents attention

Always interesting to me, Ray, how different MLS's determine what information has to go into listings. Our MLS requires us to put in tax value, but no actual taxes (there's no field for it). Actually, we can't leave out any required data when inputting into our MLS as it won't let us activate the listing. We do have to update status within 72 hours and I'm amazed at how many agents don't do this. Some fines would probably do the trick.

We have to fill out all the data as well.

Pictures may go later but must be within 24 hours.

Good morning Raymond.  I only wish our MLS board would be a little more proactive about listing accuracy.
