Are you looking for local dog friendly establishments in Austin? or some other town? I have several right here for you and your 4 legged best friend. Here are a few websites that can help you to become patrons of local eateries, hotels and businesses that are dog friendly. Since I am in Austin, I am listing our local organizations first.
www.AustinSPCA.com- The local Humane Society Pet Adoption Centersaves the areas homeless and lost dogs and cats. They work to educate the community regarding being a responsible pet ownership. They also work to help people to reduce overpopulation of unwanted pets. There are two locations: Levander Loop just east of downtown and on ResearchBlvd./HWY-183 at Ohlen Road. Austin Pets Alive is a local "No Kill" shelter on Town Lake Boulevard just west of South Lamar Blvd. You canobtaintheirhours andseewho is available at:www.AustinPetsAlive.com. There are also several great breed specific rescues in Austin, as well as the Blue Dog Rescue which does all breeds. I personally volunteer with 3 Schnauzer Rescues in Central Texas.
www.ci.austin.tx.us/parks/dogparks.htm - This City of Austin website will lead you to our numerous Dog Parks. While well behaved dogs on leashes are welcome in almost all of our parks, these parks are specifically geared to dogs and dog owners. for example they have more "Pick up the Poop Stations", and watering areas for your dogs. There are some "leash free" parks around town and this is a great place to find them!
Are you looking for local animal control services? Check out www.ci.Austin.TX.us/tlac/default.htm.
Find local pet friendly restaurants, shopping centers and hotels around the country. This is a great resource if you like to travel with your pet and are looking forpet-friendly resources: . www.Romanreign.com. My local favorite dog friendly spots are: The Yard Bar and The Moontower Salloon's huge patio.
If you are traveling in Canada or the USA www.DogFriendly.com provides a great resource for travelers with dogs. You simply click on the state or province your planning to visit and choose your city and voila there is a complete list of establishments that will welcome your dog with open paws!
