Ask an Ambassador- How to Host an ActiveRain Contest
Each month to make things more fun in the Rain, there are contests or challenges that have extra bonus points awarded to those that participate. When you enter any of the ActiveRain contests and follow the guidelines, you will be awarded bonus points within the first few days of the following month. The reason we have contests is to have posts focused on a specific topics and to produce good reading for the membership.
All contest posts should be posted in the ActiveRain Contest Group. The link can be found on the bottom of each page. You do not have to be a member to read the posts but to place your post in the group, you must join the group.
It isn't rocket science to host a contest. Contest hosts get even more bonus points for developing the topic and concept and keeping the records of those who participate. At the end of the contest period, the record is turned into staff and points are awarded within a few days.
I must confess it does take time to read all the posts submitted and to make comments back to the writers. In the long run it is worth it and the great posts created benefit the entire membership. You may discover a member you would like to follow.
There have been comments from some members that the topics don't fit their profession or their marketplace. Others may say that the topic is frivolous and a waste of time. Remember that these are bonus points and it is not mandatory on any member to host or to participate. Some topics are fun while others may be more serious and require more work or thinking. We try to mix it up and have a variety so all will want to participate at one time or another.
Don't be shy. If you have an idea that is germinating and are willing to host, send it forth. If you are one of the members that is not a real estate agent and have a topic related to the industry or even something fun, let's give it a try.
I have more details for those interested in hosting and would love to send you the guideline sheet. Our goal is to have 2-3 contests per month and we schedule them a couple of months in advance. We are now booking for July and August. Are you willing to help out?
