This is a contest that will certainly allow me to learn a lot from the others here in the Rain!  In thinking about what my strengths and weaknesses are when it comes to my real estate career, it's a pretty simple task, as I know exactly what they are.

 

My strengths far outweigh my weaknesses, but my weaknesses certainly prevent me from being more successful with regard to garnering business.  I am very well educated and feel that I am intelligent, so this is a strength that really helps me with negotiating well for my clients.  I am a good listener, very caring and honest, extremely ethical with my clients best interests in mind at all times.

 

My main weakness is that I don't market myself very well at all.  The majority of my business comes from referrals and repeat clients.  I am one that doesn't enjoy the abundance of advertising that goes on in the world and will more likely not support a business because of an advertisement.  For this reason, I don't want to advertise to people in an attempt to solicit business.  Even though I know that I am very good at what I do, I don't enjoy tooting my own horn, haha.

 

I know that I need to at a minimum do a better job of staying in touch with my sphere, as well as my clients that refer people to others.  I have a feeling that I will start doing a better job of this sooner, rather than later.

Hi Brian.. most of my business comes from repeat and referral clients... I don't consider that a major weakness. You can always figure out how to market to that base and build on it. I spend more time and money marketing to the people who know me, trust me, and love me than to strangers.

Brian we run a mostly referral business and you can too! Plan out how and when you're going to 'touch' your sphere and get it done ahead of time so it doesn't go by the wayside - like I know it can.  You're an awesome agent and guy and your strenghts are what so many home buyers are wanting in an agent they can trust.

You are very genuine, I can tell that from your blog.  That is such a great quality and people will gravitate to you because of it.  But they need to know who you are to gravitate to you!  Blogging is a good way for you to do that, and I'm sure you have great and loyal repeat clients and referrals.  There are ways to market without being self absorbed.  I'm curious what kinds of advertisement makes you not support a company?  I'm the same way, but I also specifically use certain companies because I appreciate their marketing campaign too.  Have a great Sunday! -Kasey

You have a great point Kasey & John Boles and I definitely need to find a way to market without being self absorbed, haha.  With regard to the advertising that makes me not support a company, it wouldn't be any specific advertisement, unless I felt that advertisement was unethical or immoral.  It is the constant flooding of advertising that I detest, haha.
