Balance in life is so important and I think I have done a great job of keeping myself balanced. It is difficult at times, as I don't always get to do what I want to while doing real estate because clients come first. The struggle is that clients usually will call or email right after I start to do something I want to do or that I plan to do, haha.
It seems that if I am just doing busy work or I have nothing to do, nobody will call or email, thus I am too slow when I have time to do more, haha. It often takes getting busy for the phone to ring with more business, so keeping a good balance is important.
My solution has always been to treat everything as an appointment and put it on my calendar. This works very well and if I plan to hike, then I put it on the calendar and work around it. If clients call wanting to go see properties, I schedule them in after my hike. If someone calls and wants to go out when I have something already on the calendar, whether it be something personal or business, my answer is always the same "I am sorry, but I already have an appointment during that time". Of course, there is always a little wiggle room and that is where I work it out in my mind and go with the most important appointment, haha. Most appointments that I make are subject to change, especially since clients will be quick to change if they need to, so it has to work the same way for me too!
