Gardens and People

Have you ever raised a garden or flower beds?  I am sure all of us have and know how time consuming it is to constantly weed, feed and cultivate the plants.  I bought my wife a bunch of flowers yesterday for Mother's Day  and started planting them throughout the yard.  They are beatiful and full of life but the work has just begun.

Raising plants is so much like leads, business contacts, family and friends.  You have to cultivate them as well....just more expensive!  lol

  • Leads need immediate attention and help with service.
  • Family need the constant phone calls, text messaging...I have a teen ager  lol...., love, support and all the birthday parties and lots of presents.
  • Friends need much attention to keep the relationship good and to be there even when they do not realize they need you.
  • Business contacts....should turn into friends....treated like family and sometimes turn into family.

When you meet people, you never know what part of your life they will be in, if they ever are.  I have spoken with  people recently that knew me 20-30 years ago but have not seen them until recently.  It feels good to know these people respect and like you from what you did that long ago.  You should always treat everyone with the same respect you would want to be treated.  We all lose focus sometimes and forget how we look to the other person but we need to keep ourselves in check.

You never know when you will meet this person again and under what circumstances.

Will it be awkward or pleasant?

Cultivating and growing and then enjoying a garden is so much like cultivating and growing customers to enjoy. The more you give the more you get.
