President Trump's executive orders are starting to affect environmental laws and commerce in our nation's largest state. You may remember that several months ago I wrote a blog about a small Canadian junior gold and copper mining stock. The company owns what is thought be the world's largest gold deposits and a huge copper deposit as well located in Alaska. After years wrangling with the EPA about the America Water Acts which caused many to believe that the mine could never be worked, the company and EPA have agreed to an extension. They are said to have filed a joint motion in federal court to extend a stay of proceedings by one week in the parties' legal dispute over the federal agency's pre-emptive regulatory action under the Clean Water Act. The company said that the parties have identified a likely framework of settlement and are requesting an extension of the current stay to allow the parties to finalize an agreement and obtain the required approvals. I will report back to let you know if an agreement is made.
