Finally after all the negative press about the housing market over the past year the Wall St. Journal (click on the link below) published an objective look at where we stand and what lays ahead.  Sorry Chicken Little, the sky is not falling.

We as Realtors can "educate" the public and our clients all we like.  But it takes major news publications to persuade people to act. The news and education has to come from an objective source that has no vested interest in the outcome.  Unfortunately the public does not trust Realtors, no matter how ethical, honest, and forthright we are, because we are salespeople and we DO have a vested interest in the market.

So in conclusion, this a bright spot on an otherwise very bleak public and media driven dark cloud.  Hopefully other news sources will pick up the lead and start publishing some good news as well.

I sure hope the housing crisis is over - Wonderful thing is that the Bryan/College Station, Tx has never experienced it.

Jerry.. You are very correct with the news publications.  People can't think outside the box or get information on their own.. they seem to feel the media has got the inside track on everything.  If only they knew that the real estate market is generally speaking 6 months ahead of the trend.  So, I hope you are right, that we are getting out of this.

BTW.. would you mind if I used your link to the Wall Street Journal in a blog of mine?  The more we get this out there the better.. at least this is the way I feel.  Please let me know.  Thanks.

Jerry, when the Wall Street Journal speaks, people listen. Hopefully the other media will follow suit.

Jerry, I just posted something the other day about the major news station here in NH doing a segment on how "now is a great time to buy", they are even interviewing Realtors to discuss why its now great to buy. Well its better late than never!

i hope it truly is over, now will the lenders loosen up their guidelines? That's the next question. And see those stimulus checks weren't even part of that. :) It's just like my blog about the man who is selling hot dogs who did very well without being told anything and when his son told him we were in a war/depression, he quit selling hot dogs because he had a negative attitude towards it.

There appears to be a real buzz going on about the housing market hitting bottom etc.. another major paper for the New England area The Boston Hearld, has also published a major article also stating that the market for Boston and surrounding areas seems to be bottoming out.

Is it possible an air of optimism is starting to occur?
