An unusual Visitor arrives to Explore!
Hmmm,
Wonder if these humans have food out here for me?
On May 11th, 2017, homeowners in the Beaverbrook Buckhead Neighborhood were surprised by a visitor.
Calls made to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources resulted in a visit by Chuck Waters, Region Supervisor. His recommendations was to "... leave the bears alone." Residents, he said, should not leave pet food outside or leave easily accesible food trash to attract the bears.
At this time of year, the bears follow the creek beds and as you will see in the map to the right, the stream is close to where the sightings were this week as indicated by the arrow.
Other ideas to make one's yard less attractive to black bears:
- Bear-proof garbage cans --- Great Idea
- Remove bird feeders ---- IMHO ---Not Necessarily an Appealing Option
- Clean your grills --- Great Idea
- Cut down your fruit trees ---- IMHO --- NOT Necessarily an Appealing Option
Let us help you find a home in one of the 22 Buckhead Neighborhoods!
Focus on enjoying the flowers and remember that
Black Bear sightings are VERY RARE in Buckhead!
Call or Text or Email -- lots of beautiful homes to see ---
All the best - Lynn
