No, that is not me in the picture...but I just wanted to take a moment and wish everyone a Happy Father's Day. It happens only once a year but it should be thought of every day. A few of my friends have raised their kids and it is not an easy task. It takes alot of hard work, discipline, and the dedication and love put into watching them grow up is quite remarkable.

No, it is not a typo. :) It is Mother's Day but I realized that there are some fathers out there who raise their kids themselves. In a way, they are categorized as "mothers" as well. I see that they have done a good job at it too which impresses me.

Again, this goes out to all those Single parent (whether mom or dad) who have raised kids themselves. You're an inspiration to us all.

So, have a Happy Father's Mother's Day!

Jim, I totally get this, after being raised by my mom I once took her to Bermuda for Father's Day!

Jim- That is very thoughtful of you to include those fathers who are raising their children in single parent households.

Aww, what a sweet post. It's so true some people are the Mom and the Dad. :)

That's why there is Father's Day.  What about single moms?  Do they get recognized on "Father's Day?"  I don't think so...and there are a lot more single moms than there are single dads.

Kathy, celebrating mother on father's day is great!

Nestor, I believe it goes both ways. There are single moms raising kids so they are also consider "father'. It is probably a challenging task but these individuals are super human.

Denise, thanks for your input. Generally speaking, I believe those single parents (male or female) do amazing work and I admire them for their ability. Getting the recognition part is up to the individuals. As long as the individual recognizes it, I think that is all that matters. These days (whether Mother or Father's Day) should be recognized daily...not just once a year. We should not wait until this day to celebrate. It should be celebrated daily. Have a good one! :)

I was raised by a single mom, but I recognize the gesture here.  Besides, I have seen the "Momsense" song so many times today, it's nice to have a change of pace.

Jason, you must have a very wonderful mom. Raising kids single handedly is quite a feat.

PS. What is the "momsense" song?
