What’s the Difference Between a Job and a Career?

“When someone treats being in real estate as a job that’s all

they will ever get. When you treat real estate as your

career . . . . and a business you will focus on

operating your business successfully.”

Lou Ludwig Sales and Management Consultant,

Success Tips, Speaker, Trainer and Author

As I see it . . . . . . .

What’s the difference between a job and a career?

When you treat real estate as a job . . . . There is a lack of commitment to the real estate business . . . . and it become easy to quit the job of real estate.

When you treat real estate as your career you become committed to you career. When you encounter obstacles or experience a setback you’re committed to your career . . . . You will find the way to get pass the obstacles . . . . and to overcome the setback.

Being committed to your real estate career you take responsibility for your career . . . . for your business . . . . and for the results you product in your business.

What’s the difference between a job and a career . . . . There is ownership  in your career . . . . or working at a job

Good morning, Lou... great point... and it doesn't matter whether it's real estate or any other profession... make it a career and the mindset totally changes when you don't think about it as a job.

Thanks Lou for making your point so clear.

I agree that a job carries much less motivation.

A carrier attitude will carry you business to greater heights.

When I think of a job, it seems as something that we have to do, but a career is something that we want to do.

Lou so true! Every once in awhile somebody that doesn't know me well will say - are you still selling homes (like it's a job). And I usually say something like, of course - it's been my chosen career for 30 years.

I think of a career as planning for the future and the steps to get there. I think of a job as thinking how to get to the next paycheck.

A job is a means with a paycheck.  A career is something we love to do and build our business along the way.   The pay will increase as we tweak our business. It is up to us as to how much we want to earn.
