I Need Some Sleep

My main strength is my nurturing nature to help clients do what is right for them.

I have talked sellers out of selling their homes and I have talked buyers out of purchasing what I thought was not the right home.

I have encouraged buyers to rent rather than buy.

I have convinced potential sellers to stay in their present condo rather than go to assisted living.

Just recently I helped long time friends who 'thought ' they wanted to sell their home and move to a condo.

I took the time to show them numerous places, ran an ad for a particular development and talked about their desired location on my radio show.

I truly feel they are in the right place for the time.

Their home is perfect for them and is designed for aging in place.

The  more they looked the more more anxious  they became.

They felt they were "wasting my time' and were ready to sign a listing.  When we spent some serious time discussing the pros and cons of a move, they realized ...this was not the right time.

I am very able to be in the moment and take the time to council my clients.

This strength does create a weakness...running out of time to get enough rest. Look.. it now after 11 PM and I am just writing this blog for Carol's contest.

Have to be up early for my morning personal trainer who will ask me how my sleep pattern is going this week.

And that is my weakness.

Great strength. Get some sleep to be ready for the trainer. I'm aching now.

This is a wonderful entry for the strength/weakness challenge. Getting enough sleep is definitely important!

Great strory, Margaret. Best way to build trust with clients is often to "turn down the business" they are offering and helping them make a decision that doesn't improve your pocketbook! As for sleep.... well, the bane of my existance... never get enough of it.

Nina Hollander The decision has to be right for them not us. Reminds me of another blog that needs to be written.

Thanks for stopping by and maybe we could be each other's sleep coach.

Hi @Margaret,
Your way is the only way in my book.  Sometimes you have to show them you truly care before they truly trust!   Time is always a problem in real estate... always more to do and never enough time.  Sometimes we just have to close the door and shut off our brain.  I know, easier said than done.   Thanks for the entry.

Hi Margaret - Taking that approach with clients is the best way to show them that you prioritize their best interests over any particular sale - and that makes them long-term fans who will seek you out for repeat business and referrals. That's how the pros do it!

I can relate to the "time off to rest" being a weakness.  In a business and life where there's always something to do, we have to remember to take some time to do nothing...and rest.

John Meussner All of us in this wonderful business of real estate can relate to this lack of rest. Thanks for stopping by and good talk to you this week.

Still looking for that farm loan.
