Hurricanes, Tornado's & Thunderstorms
Summer of 2017 will have them all!
Depending on where you live, you may need a serious plan of action.
Expect the best and prepare for the worst, when it comes to dangerous weather this is a good idea. We live in the Washington D.C. area so hurricanes and the occasional tornado wreaks havoc in our area. Be prepared! No matter where you live, talk to your family members and have a plan of action in case of emergency.
- Stock up on canned goods, water, and first aid supplies
- Keep a blade, matches & battery operated light in your emergency kit
- Tell young children what they need to do if there is a tornado or severe weather warning
- Have a family communication plan
- Purchase a battery operated radio
- Gather your families important documents in a safe place in case you need to grab them in a hurry
According to the NOAA an above normal Atlantic hurricane season is likely this year. Weather.gov is a great source of information for any type of disaster or emergency.
The site created by the Department of Homeland Security is a great place to start. No matter where you live in the United States, you can learn how to be prepared for extreme weather, chemical & biological threats, floods and even an influenza pandemic. While it can be difficult to think about disaster, it's a good idea to be prepared and protect your loved ones.
