Avoiding the Poof… a few work arounds for the photo issues.
“Okay so I was posting to my blog and like Poof… it disappeared”. “Bummer”.
Okay so this issue has been around for a while, yet many are still having a tough time dealing with it, so tonight I will offer a few ways to deal with it.
A few are seeing the nasty dog, and a few are just getting an error message.
One thing to keep in mind is that Bob Stewart and the rest of the folks who work hard behind the curtain are working hard on this issue and will be getting it fixed soon.
But until then, these solutions should help with the issue.
Actually there seem to be 3 issues.
- The Featured Listing Bug
- The Featured Photo Bug
- The New Photo Bug
1. The Featured Listing Bug.
Since the last big update, AR cleaned up the right side of your blog and got rid of the list of featured listings on the right side.
Unfortunately, when you are posting your blog, the box to feature the listing on the right side is still there and checking that box will cause your post to disappear.
Just don’t check this box and your post will work just fine.
2. The Featured Photo Bug
Intermittently when we try to post a featured photo at the top of our blog post, it will cause it to crash.
The best way around this is to publish your post without the featured photo, then go back and add it later.
Just click that blue edit pencil at the top, insert your feature photo now and it may work.
Sometimes this will work, sometimes it will prompt an error message, but at least your post will still be intact.
Try this again in a few hours and it may post the feature photo then, or just live without the feature photo.
3. The New Photo Bug (btw, to view these diagrams in higher detail, right click and select "view image")
The third bug seems to be in trying to upload a New photo into the AR photo uploader (Responsive Filemanager), and a few work arounds that seem to help include.
Use an old photo that is already in your collection of uploaded photos.
Or, load a link rather than a photo.
To do this simply upload the photo somewhere else on the internet such as your webpage, facebook, pinterest, or just about anywhere else that you can upload a photo.
Right click on the photo, copy image location, then go to your post and upload a link rather than a photo.
Paste the link to the image location into the source box in the "insert/edit image" box.
Hopefully these work arounds will help until things get back to normal, and please feel free to give me a call if you have any problems.
