Last Minute Changes in Your Travel Plans? Check Out Priceline.com

Well, the last few weeks have been a blur between work, going away for my anniversary, preparing to move my oldest daughter out of her apartment and preparing for my youngest daughter's high school graduation. I am exhausted! We've homeschooled Megan for 10 of twelve years and one of the highlights she was looking forward to was the graduation ceremony complete with cap and gown. However, we live in Virginia and the ceremony was taking place in Pensacola, Florida.

Graduation Ceremony, A Beka Academy

After returning from our trip on Monday, we realized there was no way we could drive the 14+ hours to Pensacola on Thursday to arrive for activities on Friday afternoon just to turn around and drive back Saturday afternoon to meet with clients on Sunday! Late Wednesday night I checked all the airlines and the discount websites. YIKES! The cheapest flight I could find was $1550 round trip! Finally I decided to check priceline.com and was shocked that they had this package deal: flight, hotel & car, for $560 per person! The catch is you don't know when your flight leaves, which airline, (Delta, yea!), or which hotel but we were desperate. We made the reservations and had to fly out of Roanoke at 8am on Thursday but we arrived in Pensacola around noon. We had to leave Pensacola this morning at 6am, but arrived in Roanoke around 1 pm so I was able to catch up with my clients (and catch a nap!)

I'm going to keep priceline.com in mind the next time I have a tight schedule and I'll suggest it to any clients who may be coming to Lynchburg for their home search. It really made my daughter's graduation that much more enjoyable. Way to go Megan; Congratulations Class of 2008!

Debbie, Congrat to your daughter!  I'm glad you were able to figure your tight connections out.  My husband is with an airline but I will have to remember priceline for my family.  I always see Capt. Kirk advertising it (he will always be Capt. Kirk to me).

Marchel, thank you! We couldn't have made that drive so I'm so glad we found a reasonable alternative at such a late date. And, we were wide awake for the ceremonies!

p.s. He'll always be Captain Kirk to me too!!!LOL!!

Debbie you are one busy lady lately!  I can't believe you home schooled on top of what you already do!  You must have been one very proud mother and it shows through how successful your daughters are that you did a great job raising them.  :)

I can relate to the schedule and I too use www.priceline.com  .  The latest is in our town there are no rooms to rent because of the housing shortage.  I was able to use priceline to get some rooms for company coming for my son's reception in June.  I am sure others are not thinking of using priceline and that is why they were there.

I also used it for three graduations from colleges that I had with children and their spouses (and fiance) and found rooms where none were available.  Same reason I am sure.

Congratutions on your daughters graduation.  Moms, daughters and going away to college is an emotional time (son's too).  I have 4 daughters and you will be needed for advice very often.  Even if it is just for a recipe, you are the source.

Carol, thanks for the input on hotel rooms, I never would have thought of using priceline for them! We have the same problem in Lynchburg, the hotels fill up fast with all of the graduations (we have several colleges).

We're having my daughter's graduation party tomorrow and with work being as crazy as it has been this week, I haven't even bought the food yet!!!!! Yikes!!!LOL! I'll be glad when tomorrow is over! Thanks for commenting.

Dale, thanks so much, you are too kind. We have had a whirlwind week, just had Megan's graduation party yesterday. I'm sold on priceline, I was very happy with the airline, car and hotel. Can't beat the price! Thanks my friend.
