My Strengths & Weaknesses. Carol Williams is hosting an ActiveRain challenge this month title "Strengths vs Weakness: An ActiveRain Challenge". In her challenge Carol simply asks us to share:
"Share with us what you believe to be your personal strengths and how they help you in business. AND, then, share with us your personal weaknesses and how you have overcome them (or manage them) to avoid getting derailed to stay on track with your business goals."
My strengths are few, and my weaknesses are many, but I will focus on what I feel is my biggest strength which has served me well in both business & personal life, and the biggest weakness that I am still trying to overcome.
My strength is my ability to overcome obstacles when they arise. Rarely do I run into an issue that I am not able to find away around, especially in my business. My knowledge of mortgage programs and their guidelines have helped me to avoid many of the road bumps that tend to come up during the course of the loan process these day. Because I am constantly staying on top of guideline change, I am able to foresee possible issues early on in the loan process. When I do come across an unforeseen issue, that same knowledge enables me to find a solution to the problem. Occasionally when I hit a wall and do not know the answer, I know who to go to, or where to go to help me find the solution.
My biggest weakness is that I tend to try to juggle to many things at once. I am a producing sales manager, so I not only have my loans to shepard through the loan process, but I also have to assist the Loan Originators who report to me with theirs. As a sales manager I also have responsibilities such as attending meetings, train Loan Originators, and prepare & present at monthly meetings. There are times when everything seems to happen at once with multiple time sensitive issues requiring my attention. But there are also times when the issue or task can wait, however, I am not a wait type of guy, so I address them right away. This tends to create at times longer days then they have to be, and needless stress. As hard as I try to avoid this, the do not put off to tomorrow what I can get done today attitudes tends to take over. I have gotten better at controlling this, but it is still a work in progress for me.
Both My Strength & Weakness are a continuing challenge in their own way. My strength requires me to continually stay on top of an ever changing Lending Industry. My weakness requires me to try to stay more focused on one issue at a time, which for me is much easier said then done. I am committed to continuously improving my weakness, and to reinforcing my strength.
