Minot Has A Cat Problem

That is probably NOT a surprise to many but to my friends on Nextdoor in my neighborhood I keep reading "where are all these cats coming from?" and they are not happy about it.

CatI'm not surprised because I watch the news and read the newspaper. One report last month said: Minot, a north-central city in North Dakota has launched a project to reduce the feral cat population through reproductive sterilization. The Souris Valley Animal Shelter in Minot received $1,500 in a grant and donations to initiate a program to bring down the city's wild cat population of 1,200,.

That's a lot of cats! So what can you/we do about it? Quit buying cats comes to mind. If your family wants a cat adopt one from the shelter. Aside from that I say support the shelter so they can sterilize more cats.

Love them or hate them we have a problem with them and it's going to take a united effort to get them under control. I will say one thing about them... it's been a while since I've seen a mouse. (Sadly it's also been a while since I've seen my blogging bunny as well).

I do miss the bunny that used to visit me when I was blogging on the deck Karen but it is nice not to worry about mice getting into my garage or camper.

I can't do that in town William Feela so I just relocate them to another part of town.

Hi Bob - every cloud has a silver lining.  I would be happy to have more cats if it meant fewer mice

Wild cats can be a problem for a lot more than bunnies, they are highly destructive to song birds.

Our wildlife biologist is always quick to jump up from his desk and head outside to take care of it whenever he sees one.

I never thought about the birds Bob Crane but I've also noted fewer squirrels around as well.

I think Bob "RealMan" Timm  you have some stray comments you may want to delete...As to the kitty over population...sounds like too much of  what Dini and Magic would say is a "good thing."  Being responsible is part of being a pet parent....and choose to "fix" what you have !

Hi Bob... that's a lot of cats, to say the least. They are everywhere but I've not heard of them in quite such numbers. I'm with you on supporting the shelters and sterilization, as you know.

Meantime, who is this TNR Researcher and why is he here being "ugly." I have a few other choice words, but won't stoop to behaving the way he does.

I've reported all his comments Nina Hollander . I don't like being threatened by him either as far as if I delete his comment so I will let Bob deal with him.

Whats a TNR researcher, seems to have a lot more info on cats than any of us ever wondered about.  Yet kind of interesting if it is true.

I agree Bob Crane and I don't doubt much of what he says is true BUT he could lose the bad attitude. I don't like people upsetting my BARFF Nina Hollander
