On Wednesday I wrote a post about my vacation to Peru with Road Scholars, and my 4-day trek on the Inca Trails leading to Machu Picchu. I couldn't share pictures then, but the bug has been fixed, so I'm posting a few of my favorites here.

One of my plans for this holiday weekend is download and cull through all my trip photos -- a task that will take quite some time, but it will be fun re-living my grand adventure through the photos.

Another plan is to reflect on just what this holiday is all about, and to count the many blessings we all enjoy.

Good morning, Bob Crane - the trip was amazing from start to finish, including the difficult hiking. The Andes are in a class by themselves--very different from the Alps, the Rockies, the Sierras or anywhere I've been.

Hello Joan Cox - we hiked almost entirely on stone steps for 4 days. The 2nd day was hardest--went from 10,000' elevation to just under 14,000' - my FitBit said I did the equivalent of 243 flights of stairs!! Most challenging hike I've ever done, but also the most rewarding. Enjoy your weekend, L.

Hi Inna Ivchenko - don't put your trip off as long as I did. The trek to Machu Picchu will be etched in my mind forever. The Andes are like no other mountains I've seen.
