Tenacity and adapting can get you through it!
Growing up poor wasn't a choice, it was simply circumstances and environment. As a child, I endured bullying by other kids due to being different than them and yearned for the normalcy that other kids experienced.
While physically small, I more than make up for that in tenacity. From a young age, I learned about how important a determined work ethic played in earning a good living.
As a teen, I continuously fought off old, familiar feelings of shame, low self-esteem knowing I wanted a better life. When taking a job, I gave it everything and more. If I delivered auto parts, I was the VERY BEST at that job! When one thing didn't work, I adapted, trying something else.
Tenacity and adapting still plays a large part in my personal life and daily business. Knowing that family members and clients depend on me constantly motivates me forward, towards success.
A weakness is the inability to hide how I feel inwardly toward overly bearing, bully-type people. My face is very telling, body language and by then the other party knows full well. The built-up tolerance for pompous, self-entitled people who strong-arm others has waned through the years.
Those who bully as children often grow up to be worse. They seek out targets and then act. Glad to be in an industry where I can make the choice about who I work with day, day out and to surround myself with positive, motivated people who treat others with The Golden Rule.
Yes, it still exists, thankfully!
We can all make a HUGE impact in people's lives in small ways without necessarily going BIG and BOLD.
