Buying "As Is", Should I Still Get a Home Inspection?
All home buyers should get a home inspection.
You Are Buying "As-Is" So Should You Get a Home Inspection?
If the seller allows it then you should get a home inspection. This is a just a smart thing to do and it looks out for your interests. Being informed is never wrong and the cost of a home inspection being just a few hundred dollars is a small investment. I advise ll my Clarksville TN home buyers whether they are owner occupants or investors to get a home inspection.Even on REO properties the sellers usually give the option for the buyer to get a home inspection. Sometimes this gives the buyer an out if the inspection turns out bad. Other times it is for information only that lets the buyer know what to expect and to look out for in the future.
Don't always expect the seller to do any repairs. In an aggressive seller's market, sellers don't have to negotiate or compromise by doing any repairs because there is another buyer waiting in the wings. Buyers need to plan for future repairs and know if they are getting in over their heads.
Some of the repairs may be so major that it could financially cripple a buyer. Planning for these upfront can keep the buyer out of trouble. Severe repairs may affect whether the bueyr can get financing and even close on the loan.
Buying "As-Is", Should I Still Get a Home Inspection?
Spend the small amount of money and get the knowledge you need to know. I see knowledge is powerful and you need to know. There are still some great deals in the Clarksville TN real estate market.
When selecting a home inspector, choose one with a good reputation, check references and their experience level. Also, remember that home inspectors do make mistakes and what they say and see isn't infallible.
Besides, buyers never say the are sorry they got a home inspection.
