There are many reasons people pick up and move. Some move for jobs, others for family closeness. Others move because they're in the military and some just want a fresh start. My Uncle & his wife moved to a warmer climate for medical reasons. People in Massachusetts have moved to New Hampshire to escape MA taxes. All I now is there is a lot of movement. The folks at KCM have put together an INFOGRAPHIC highlights some of the reasons people move.

Some Highlights:

In a recent Harris Poll, Americans listed "change in climate/weather" as their top reason for wanting to relocate.
41% would move for a “better job opportunity.”
Being closer to loved ones filled out 3 of the top 6 reasons why Americans move.

Those figures are pretty close to the reasons my recent clients have relocated. Jobs, family and weather are a little higher in my experience. Of course being in the Northeast weather is a big one.
