Ding Dong Ditch

Sounds like a great set up to something with a client, our markets ,or the economy.  Actually, it really happened to us Saturday night.

My wife and I just got home and my 17 year old niece was being relieved of babysitting duties.  I had sat down to look at the weather for the next day.  When I saw a red flash across the tv and the kitchen.  I first thought that it was a car driving by, but began to wonder.  Two minutes later 5 real hard whump, whump, whumps on the door.  My wife says "ding dong ditch."  I jumped out of my chair and went looking.

I was the KING OF DING DONG DITCH and no one, and I mean no one can out ding dong ditch me.  We live on a couple of acres and knowing the rules of Ding dong ditch there are only 3 points of escape that someone can go.  So I immediately grabbed the keys to my jeep and dove to the southwest corner of the property via the road.  I looked between the 30 trees and saw nothing.  Boldly, I drove onto our back acre of land and started driving north, looking between the trees, still nothing.  Next I crossed the road and drove into the neighbor's lot.....BINGO.  I scored my first nab of the evening.  Where there's one there's more.

I confronted the person and they denied being out with anyone else.  The story was plausible, "I'm not from the area, I'm trespassing on the neighbor's property and am just talking on my cell phone here b/c I wanted some peace and quiet."  Yea right.   My wife cam out and then the other 3 13 and 14 year olds came drudginly out from behind the trees.  The dad of two of the kids came out and was very cool about the whole thing.

Needless to say as 2 of the boys are our neighbors kids, I'm not going to push the issue on a first offense.  Most importantly, I was thrilled to know that I am still the king of Ding Dong Ditch.  I knew the MO of these wannabees and nabbed them cold handed.  I'm sure they didn't think that they'd be chased down by a jeep going through yards, but I knew if I caught them that I'd own them.

I couldn't sleep for a while that night, I was so excited.  My wife said "you're so proud aren't you."  I was.... Game on.....kinda stoked for the next one.

Remind your wife not to let you have a gun - or a crossbow even!  LOL.  maybe a paintball gun would be ok.  Ding dong splatt!

That's great that you caught them.  I would have hit them with BB guns.  I like the idea of the paintballs.  Too funny.
