Be Prepared to Remove Your Shoes !!!
While showing homes, it is important to follow the guidelines.

Be Prepared to Remove Your Shoes!
Today I had some showings with a nice young couple, but when we came to one particular listing, there was a sign at the entrance foyer asking to 'please remove shoes before entering.'
I am used to this request in my area from time to time, so I always make sure I do not have 'holy socks' with my big toe sticking out, just for situations like this.
HOWEVER !
The fiance REFUSED to remove his shoes !!
I have shown hundreds of homes where this request was asked, and I have never had someone say "No!"
It was very weird for a moment, because he said "No way I'm not removing my shoes, if they dont want me in their house then fine, I'm not going in" !
I smiled and said 'No problem, but we do often see this request, so we should probably be ready for it in the future too" - hoping this would let the guy know that this request was normal....
But NOPE ! ... he said "Its not my religion, and I dont think I should have to remove my shoes"
... so he didnt go in !!!!!!!
He waited outside while his wife took the tour of the house with me !!!!
I didnt mention it again, and we went on to see 3 other homes, but my question to you is...
Have you had anyone ever refuse to remove their shoes ? And would you have let him walk the house anyway ??
I apologized and told him he couldnt walk the house out of respect for the sellers wishes ...
Lastly, maybe we should prep our clients more often when we are scheduling showings, that they MAY be asked to remove shoes before entering !!!
... I will be from here !!!
Cheerio !!!!
