It is always such a pleasure to be invited over to the home that your buyer has purchased. This happened yesterday, I get a call if I can come over for dinner and enjoy the evening with them.
And it happened at the perfect time, I have been working non-stop for three weeks and was just coming up for air. My new oceanfront listing is getting showings, some of them a second time. Another listing is in escrow and everything looks like clear sailing. Have a new listing coming up in about a week, and a couple of buyers are showing up next week.
So, standing in the Costco parking lot when I received the call, I said, sure, I'll be right over if you don't mind my coming early. Friday traffic can be brutal on the Monterey Peninsula with people going out of town while a whole lot are coming in for the weekend.
Next thing I know, I'm helping with the grocery shopping for the dinner and other errands. And you know what? It was absolutely delightful to see the buyer showing ME where she shops and why, shortcuts to get to various places, interesting restaurants in the neighborhood.
All of a sudden I had a whole new perspective of this area from someone who lives there. This will be tremendously helpful when I sell another home in that area!
One thing led to another, we had to toast the house with champagne, of course, and it was almost Midnight before we finished with our dessert. So I was asked to stay, rather than get on the road at so late an hour.
This was another revelation, to actually STAY in a home that you have sold and with the buyers in place with all their belongings--including pets and a whole lot of potted plants. Being an early riser, I sneaked into the kitchen to make some tea, bringing it to the sun porch overlooking the lake to enjoy the sunrise.
IT WAS WONDERFUL TO EXPERIENCE FIRSTHAND THESE BUYERS' NEW HOME.
