How do you measure if your real estate business is on the right path?

This seems to be an appropriate time to look back and see if your real estate business is on the course you have set for it. We are just about at the half way point of the year and its time to evaluate our business strategies.

Looking back the past 6 months, I see that the following plans are humming right along:

1. The Rothwell Realty Inc. name recognition is high. Mid-2016, I started a marketing campaign that ties me to this brokerage name. Before that, I marketed my real estate services under my name and as an independent broker. For some reason the public as well as other agents feel better about the fact that I'm part of a corporation, even though it's mine. Strange, isn't it? I actually started the corporation 3-1/2 years ago when I first opened up my real estate office in its current location in Carmel-by-the-Sea (on Dolores between 5th & 6th - in the heart of its downtown business district).

2. My personal name recognition, Hella Mitschke Rothwell, has also skyrocketed to levels that I could not have imagined a year ago. Through my affiliation as a board member and organizer of the Carmel Art Festival, I became part of a movement to bring greater awareness to Carmel-by-the-Sea. Several long standing events were inadvertently tossed together to have the city help us in our marketing efforts. The public as well as businesses in town got involved, and next thing I knew, I was speaking at many commission hearings, council meetings, etc.

3. How did that translate into actual business for me? It looks like 2017 will be a banner year once again. And that's pretty much all I want to say on the subject until I get further through the year. We are just coming into our busy summer and early fall season, and I'm in the process of picking up several new listings.

Do I have plans to change anything during the next few months? Or add any marketing?

I only mention it because I seem to be getting a lot of calls from various online entities to entice me to get on board, but the answer is NO. At this point its premature to add anything else.

What I am doing is updating things like office equipment, new phones, things that make my daily life easier.

Can't wait to see how the rest of the year plays out!

Fascinating that adding the corporation has expanded your brand.  Gary Keller started answering the phone in such a way to make it sound like he was a much bigger company than he was at the time - it worked.

Lise Howe - It's amazing how that has helped me for some reason. Although I am leaving the option open to expand, that's not really why I did it. It's just tidier that way. On the other hand, everyone always asks me "who are you with", and they wag their head sagely when I say "Rothwell Realty". Go figure.

Endre Barath, Jr. - It keeps you hopping if you are a one man/woman show, doesn't it? And I wouldn't have it any other way.

Good for you! I'm glad all is going well so far this year. You're smart to say "NO" to further changes until you know how all the ones you already make will play out.

Kat Palmiotti - I don't want to extend myself any further at the moment, and I'm not convinced that all those online services actually help me unless I'm willing to put in time in that direction. And my time is stretched with my current plans that are working.
