Hello Seattle...someone has me confused with TECH SUPPORT

Welcome clip artOK I'm not complaining, its really nice to be noticed but I'm just another blogger...really!

There isn't a day that goes by that I'm an not asked for some kind of blogging help.  Not so much about finding a voice but more about the "how do I do this" type thing.

Tonight I came home to this message:

Hi Kristal,

I hope you can help me. You see, I am new to AR and I am trying to figure out how to (I know this is going to sound stupid) get my blog that I have readied in Word to paste (in its entirety) to my AR blog. I keep losing the clipart. I know this isn't rocket science and I have been able to insert pictures just fine but I cannot for the life of me get this to go. It just shows text with no clip art. PLEEEAAASSSEEE Help.

Thank you. You came highly referred.

My response was:

Xyzww,

What you are trying to do will never work.  You can compost text in Word but you will need to add the clip art images separately in AR.  OR you can sign up for writely.com (it's free and offered by Google). There you can compose online just like you do in Word.  When done you cut and paste the whole thing into your blog on AR.

Hope this helps!

kk

Later (11:30 p.m.) this one comes in:

Hi Kristal,

A while back you mentioned that I should post one of my blogs on localism but I'm not sure how to do it, I did log in but still cannot find where to add the post. If you have a chance to help me out I would appreciate it =) I have so much to learn here!!

posting to LocalismDear Xyzzzzzz,

Posting to Localism is done in Active Rain.  Just compose your post, when done, check the appropriate boxes, starting with CONSUMERS. (It's a little hard to see, but once you check off this box the rest of the boxes (circles actually) will appear.  You don't have to check these if they are not relevant.  BUT it is a good idea to catagorize your blog to an area if it is specific to that area.  (see my handy illustration.)

You must go to step two toi finish the job...

At the bottom of the page you will need to choose your state, it looks like this: Go as deep in choices as your post is relevant.  Easy yes?

Localism posting

Learning new things is challenging, I always admire folks who refuse to be satisfied with status quo and continue to expand their horizons by learning something new.  I welcome the opportunity to share what I have learned, sharing is fun.  It even gets better when the person you have taught starts teaching others.

Pass it on.

P.S. I have a list of "how to do this and that" on my Active Rain Profile.  If you are questioning how to do something, check it out.  Maybe it was discussed before...

kk

P.S. Active Rain has yet to put me on the payroll.  I am however logging my hours and plan to redeem them for more points, shoes and perhaps a cup of Chai Tea from Starbucks (of course).

KK, I don't think we have ever shared ideas or I have ever asked you a question, at least not yet LOL!  Great post!

Don

PS.  How do I stop reading these blogs until all hours of the morning?

Thanks!

Kristal, you rock. Your response was great, and I'm sure greatly appreciated. You're one of the reasons this place works.

02/28/2007 12:56 AM by Jeff Turner (Real Estate Shows)

JoAnne ~ All Jersey girls get my help...unqualified, absolutely!  You are welcome!

Alex ~ have you been drinking That Cool Aid again?  What has my husband got to do with this?  :)

Don ~ You asked, <PS.  How do I stop reading these blogs until all hours of the morning?>  I replied, "Simple, close your eyes."

Jeff ~ Yes, Kristal is a rock.  I'm just hoping Matt Heaton doesn't hammer me with his rock thumping hammer.  I bruise easily.

:)

It's a new day now. KK's tech support is closed.  I don't give a "FIG" what you need...its my bedtime.

Kristal, what a trooper you are, and how lucky we are to have you.  Now how do you create and paste the cool screenshots?  Hello, AR tech support, are you there?  Hello. . . .    :-)

Well now that we all know you are so helpful, I'm sure you'll soon get more requests for assistance! :)

Do you limit your advice to just Active Rain or can we send other types of questions?  LOL

Thank you for all you have done to help make this a nice place to exchange ideas.

I love the Freudian slip telling her how to "compost" text in Word.

02/28/2007 02:40 AM by ARDELL DellaLoggia (Sound Realty)

I remember back (in ancient history when we couldn't host photos on ActiveRain) when you taught us how to get photos into AR.  You altruist, you!

02/28/2007 04:53 AM by Sharon Simms St Pete Florida CRS CIPS CLHMS (RE/MAX Metro)

Maybe you could produce a "Dummies guide to Active Rain".  I bet there would be a few thousand of us lining up to buy it.

02/28/2007 05:11 AM by Linda Davis (RE/MAX Realty Group)

Ardell is funny.

I am sure your tech support pay check is in the mail.

Thanks for all you have contributed to the network!!

Consider this a compliment--They ask for your advice and help because you are a wiz kid AND a very nice person.

Seems every question posted gets a comment pointing to you!

PS... Nice jagged edge on the screen paste... How'd ya do that....????

You are the expert so people want to hear from the best. Do a blog on the photo program you have. I would like to hear about that?

02/28/2007 07:07 AM by Eric Bouler (Prudential Gardner)

Eric my cool NOLA friend.  For you to "hear" my post I would need to do a PODCAST.  :)

Dan~ The jagged edge comes from using my Grandmother's pinking shears.  It's a very special kind of scissor only found in antique stores.

Diane~ thank you for calling me a Wiz Kid.  I haven't been called a kid in a million years.

MF~ I agree ARDELL cracks me up.  Yes, I have confidence  my check is in the mail.  I also believe its way into the SIX FIGURE range.  Soon I will stop being a REALTOR and become a WARTSP (Wealthy Active Rain Tech Support Person)

Linda~ Hummm what would Carnac say?  Are there Dummies on Active Rain? Nahhhhh!

Sharon ~ isn't it funny how ancient history is less than a birthday ago?

ARDELL ~ thanks for not SHOUTING out my mistake.  (or was it?)  ;)

Randy ~ Other questions are answered too.  For that I do receive 3.5%.

Kausik ~ Assistance is openly given.  No guarantee my answers are right! :)

Stefan~ You asked, <<Now how do you create and paste the cool screen-shots?  Hello, AR tech support, are you there?  Hello. . . .    :-) >>  Since you are an attorney I will tell you how to "cut and paste" because you can defend yourself in court.  :)

Right click, highlight, Ctrl C, go to where you would like to paste, hold down the Ctrl hit V.

Warning do not do this to Lenn's Maps!  :)

Jeff ~ Swell now we have rainy ghosts on AR?

Dena ~ You need to contact Dear Abby or Carnac or Dr.  Ruth.  Your issue is NOT my department. :)

02/28/2007 10:25 AM by Kristal Kraft ~ Denver Real Estate (The Berkshire Group Realtors)

Fun post, as usual Kristal.  That is odd that someone would email you for "tech support" though!  I think its nice that you take the time to put screenshots in your posts.  I am WAY too lazy for that.

Kristal - It's good to be the Queen.

I really like reading your post. You are just so darn good!

Karen ~ The screen shots make it so much easier.  They really don't take that much time to do.

James ~  Qof Tech  Support?  Cool!  Hey where do you ride?

Steve ~ Your wife is brilliant and beautiful and very smart.  You really lucked out.

03/01/2007 05:51 PM by Karen Hurst ~ Real Estate Broker ~ Warwick ~ Rhode Island (Storm Realty LLC)

LOL...I have to laugh since I e-mailed her last week for HELP.  I'm still working on the shadow box thingie...but those jagged edges look pretty cool too.

Rich ~ I didn't want to announce it here, but since you asked, Caleb has been in negotiations with Nordstorms for months now.  It's looking very good, so we should be hearing about it very soon.

Karen ~ Pinking shears my dear!

Moni ~ I have a whole box of tricks!  :)

Anonymous ~ I didn't leave that comment!  But I agree!  :)

Thanks for all the technical tips on using AR and localism - it really helps a newbie

lol - This is hilarious. I've been doing some moderation in the active rain newbies group lately. I have been trying to answer a bunch of unanswered questions. I am feeling a little like tech support too, but I am bringing it on myself. Its not coming to me. From all the blogs I've seen you write, I'm thinking the guys at AR should send you a gift certificate for your Chai Latte?

Angie, perhaps you and I should share a Chai Tea Latte...Venti of course!
