Denim Nation

Is wearing denim for an open house really that terrible?  I held open a property one week wearing denim and a really nice blazer.  I held the same property open the following week wearing another nice denim combo.  I then received a call from the agent saying the owners thought I was under dressed.  So, I'm thinking denim is still not widely accepted.

I have a couple pairs of nice denim pants I wear.  They are dark colored and always ironed.  I wear them with a really nice blouse and some nice color-coordinating heels and have never had a problem.

Kirstin, I really think that it depends on your market, here we are still pretty rural, so denim on males and females are pretty common.  I would honestly be more concerned what the clients or potential clients think than I would what other realtors think.

Kirstin - I agree with Tony & Darcy. It depends on the market. I specialize in horse properties & if I showed up dressed up, I'd look sorely out of place. It also depends on the audience you're trying to appeal to (are they young & hip? urban professional? rural? retired? young families?...). I try to make the buyer feel at home.
