Is HOA Living For You?
I get this question asked frequently, mostly by the buyers who are moving from another state to sunny Florida.
Most homes in Clermont FL that were built after 1995 are in subdivisions and have HOAs. Is that a bad thing? Depends on what your concerns are.
I am currently working with buyers who are moving from New Jersey to Clermont FL and they absolutely do not want to be in a community with HOA. They gave me a list of reasons why, all thanks to what they’ve read online. If it’s on the web, it must be true..right? Wrong!
Some communities do have strict rules, such as;
-No commercial vehicles parked in the driveway
-Garage doors must be down at all times other than going in and out
-No recreational vehicles parked in the driveway or the grass that’s visible from the road
-No pets
These are just a few so if you are a buyer with a large RV, some of the HOA communities that prohibit them will not work for you.
There are so many others with HOA with reasonable rules so the neighborhoods are kept up as well as the home values. Before you say NO to a subdivision with an HOA, ask your REALTOR® for the community docs and be sure to make it part of your offer in the contract.
If you are a home buyer looking for a single family home with NO HOAs, there’s a total of 48 homes to choose from in Clermont FL. Prices range from $95,000 to $2,350,000. Out of 48, seventeen are on at least one-acre land, some have lakefront lots, some lake view.
