Triple Digit Heat Slams Sacramento and Breaks Record

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

The official word is it was 106 in Sacramento on Sunday, and the last time it was anywhere close to that, it was 105 in the year 1945. The heat wave came really fast and early in the season. Our weather is all messed up, and it's probably due to climate change. Usually we don't see weather this hot until the end of July or the month of August.

You can say, oh, it's a dry heat, all you want, and it doesn't make it any better.

How does this affect selling real estate in Sacramento? Well, some agents are still out showing, but the open houses are fairly dismal. You can read more in my personal blog today at this link: Don't You Hate That Expression Is It Hot Enough For Ya?

Love that photo, Elizabeth.

This is why I enjoy living by the coast - I never have to worry about baking.  Even our hottest weather with the Santa Anas rarely gets above 90.

Jeff Dowler Yes, when I lived in Newport Beach, it was always at least 10 degrees cooler than inland, and we didn't even have air conditoning. It was fine. I used to wonder how people could live in Riverside, for example, LOL.

Elizabeth,

Yikes, and I remember those heat waves when we lived in Napa.  Our AC bill was over $600 for several months because of it.  Our friends in Los Angeles county had a hot weekend too.  We were blessed with the marine layer that kept us cool.  A

That's hot, indeed! SF broke records yesterday at 88 degrees. No fog in sight yet.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel Yes, Napa and Sonoma are not immune but at least they have hills. The heat in Sacramento, especially in the city, seems to get trapped in the valley, and if we don't get the Delta breezes in the evening, it can stay hot all night.

Ah, Lottie Kendall that sounds so wonderful, 88. My mother always loved San Francisco because of the weather, but she likes it much colder than I do. I stayed with her when she was recovering from surgery and we always fought over the climate control. I'd say I like Jamaica, and she'd say, no, San Francisco temps.

Hi Elizabeth -- you know people love to talk about the weather(as if we can do anything about it).   Hot here too and expecting it to last through the week but we've been reminded that no records have been broken...yet.

Regarding your question --- I'm channeling Johnny Carson when I ask --- how hot is it?

Ouch! It's been in the 90's here in Charlotte with humidity in the 80-90% variety. It's like walking into a sauna. I know you don't get the humidity like we do but I don't know how you can tolerate those kind of temps.

Elizabeth- people talk about the heat here but I can't remember having triple digit temps.  Humidity yes! But talking about dry heat, when we were in Vegas years ago, I was so used to the humidity, I thought I was going to die in that dry heat. I drank bottle after bottle of water. (my skin looked great, though.)

I empathize. We are in the thick of heat waves too. It sure makes me sleepy, how about you? We had a thundercloud roll in last night - I was so tired the sound didn't even bother me.

I love your picture!!! Stay cool!

Patricia Feager I don't get sleepy in hot weather. Rainy weather makes me sleepy, as long as it's not thundering with lightning.

Joan Cox I've got to shoot photos myself of a vacant house today where there are no utilities. I can't get a photographer over there until it's too late, so I have to do it myself. Ack.
