It's summer and so that means it is time to clean off the grill, marinate the meat, and fire up your appetite! Summer means barbecue, but this week in particular is even more of a BARBECUE celebration. Whether barbecue means grilled steak, hot dogs, ribs or North Carolina chopped pork sandwiches, this is the week to celebrate.
The Metropolitan Washington BBQ & Grilling Week is happening right now - from June 19-25. This means that local restaurants will be offering treats during this special week just for you to enjoy. Over 25 restaurants throughout the DC area will offer specials during the week. Some businesses will offer “Flavors of Summer in the City” foods for $11, $22 or $33.
Participating Montgomery County restaurants include:
- Kapnos Kouzina, 4900 Hampden Lane, Bethesda
- The Dish & Dram, 10301 Kensington Pkwy., Kensington
- All Set Restaurant & Bar, 8630 Fenton St., Silver Spring
- Lincoln's bar-b-que, 931 Ellsworth Dr., Silver Spring
This very fun event is hosted by the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington. Be sure to check out the final event this weekend at the 25th Annual Giant National Capital Barbecue Battle on June 24-25 at Pennsylvania Avenue NW in DC.
The event has won numerous awards, such as a "Top 10 BBQ Event" by The Travel Channel and "One of Five Can't Miss Summer Festivals in the Country" by CNN. Top barbecue chefs from around the country will compete to become the National Barbecue Champion, while all can enjoy food samples, attractions like the Big Taste "World's Largest" Grill, eating contests, over 30 live performances and more. Tickets are available to purchase very easily online or at the event.
