Here are some tips for Staging a small home to make it appear larger.:
1. Dark colors make a room cozy but if the room is too small it will not work. You should use light colored paint for walls and ceiling. The carpet should also be of light color.
2. A wall of mirrors makes the room look twice as large.
3.The room should be well lit . If you have too many lamps it occupies space that you do not have. You should have recessed lights instead.You can buy sconces so as to avoid having an end table for a lamp. 4.Do not have dark window treatments .
5. Remove clutter and do not display too many objects .
6.The furniture should also be scaled down. If your living room is small do not buy a huge sectional sofa that will occupy the entire room.Do not buy a big screen TV for a small room.
7. If the guest bedroom is small you can have a Murphy bed in the room or day bed.
You can decorate your home the way you like to do it , paint any color and buy whatever furniture you like to have when you buy a house . However when the house is for sale you do not want to draw attention to the fact that a room is too small by making it look smaller.
