Price Increase by Post office . How you can use this in your farm area.

The cost of mailing a one ounce  letter went up by one cent as of today. Most people pay their bills online or through automatic debit from their account. Invitations are sent by evite or email and people have almost forgotten how to write letters. We send egreetings instead of Hallmark Cards . Most people will not be affected as much as Realtors.

We have to do more farming because of the slow market and just one penny is going to add a few dollars to our expenses by the end of the year.

I do not know how the rates will affect bulk mail prices. I assumed that since the 41 cent rate had gone up to 42 cents , the cost of sending post cards would not go up. I was surprised to see that it has gone up by one cent as well.

I have replaced print advertising with internet marketing and I wonder if I should replace mailing post cards with sending information by  email .

But I am going to take advantage of the price increase by going to my farm this weekend with a few one cent stamps  for each person.. Everyone loved it last year . I hope it will be well received again.

Gita - That is an excellent idea, it will certainly give you a good reason to go door knocking.

I missed the post card going up.  I was ready to send some out.  That would have hurt having them all come back.

Gita,  I have no problem using email instead of snail mail.  Keep in mind make sure the recipient has a reason to open.

I just love spending the time (and money) to go get 1 cent stamps. Seems it is cheaper to use up the stamps I have and just put 2 stamps on every letter....Crazy I know !!!

Valerie, Thank you. The thing that affects us most is the price of gas.

Jennifer, Thank you. I tried it last year and everyone opened the door and thanked me.

Denise, I was surprised that the price went up for post cards.

Bo, Thank you. I agree some people delete email without reading it.

Jimmy, I will send email to those who subscribe to my email .

Charles, I always have the wrong number of stamps left.

Clint, I have been thinking of setting up something like that.

Lindsey, Actually I got that idea from brain Buffini..

Gita:  Good idea.  I also did it last year and it went over well As far as email goes, yes some people do delete before reading. With hard copy mail, some people just throw in trash before reading.... I guess a nice mixture of both.

Linda, Thank you for the comments. I agree a mixture of both is needed.
