There are many shcool rating services available to home buyers. In Arizona School Digger is an online review choice. For example, Scottsdale, Gilbert and Chandler school districts are rated highly.

Parents have selected Scottsdale, Arizona #1 in America to raise children in a past survey. Not, bad considering Scottsdale is also among the best in the US in the following categories: "Foodie" cities, golf destination cities, resort hotel cities, and safest cities. This plus natural desert beauty, parks, bike paths, shopping, activities make Scottsdale a wonderful place to live.

Brittany Hargrave of the Arizona Republic, reported in an article dated June 12, 2014, Jeff Thomas, associate superintendent for the Scottsdale Unified School District, said the city couldn't have nabbed No. 1 without Scottsdale's great teachers and school leaders.

"You would be hard-pressed to find a community more engaged in education for children than Scottsdale," he said. "We take a comprehensive approach to meeting the needs of every child."

 Basis School Scottsdale

BASIS School of  Scottsdale, Arizona was ranked #1 Nationally by US News and World Report

Per the US News and World Report 2017 Rankings, beside being ranked so high in the 2017 Rankings, "BASIS Scottsdale is ranked 1st within Arizona. Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement® course work and exams. The AP® participation rate at BASIS Scottsdale is 100 percent. The student body makeup is 54 percent male and 46 percent female, and the total minority enrollment is 31 percent. BASIS Scottsdale is the only high school in the BASIS School Inc.."

Further, Brittany Hargrave of the Arizona Republic, reported, "Scottsdale parents have chosen the best city in the country to raise their children, according to the online-identity services website MyLife.com. That is, if parents are basing their choice on the same criteria as the website. MyLife compared the country's 100 most-populous cities and determined the ranking using specific criteria: Average family income; cost of living; crime rate; quality of public schools; and the number of public parks per capita."

Scottsdale has a lot to offer besides Education

Scottsdale has long been known for golf course, resort hotels, excellent dining, access to sports venues and the arts. However, many of our local residents value the good schools, bike and hiking paths, mountain trails, family venues, Spring Training, Butterfly Museum, Musical Instrument Museum (close by), lakes, parks,  Arizona State University and Scottsdale Community College, hospitals and medical, Boys and Girls clubs and more family oriented activities. Of course the nice weather for 12 months allows for outside activities for the family.

The Arizona Republic article also reported that, "Tamara Delmar, area director for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale, also found the ranking appropriate, but said the criteria do not capture all of what makes Scottsdale an ideal environment for raising children. She cited the Scottsdale Police Department's relationship with the Boys and Girls Clubs as an example of the "spirit of collaboration" among community agencies that really sets the city apart.

"(The Police Department) does an incredible job of outreaching to the community," Delmar said. "They have provided presentations giving us a better understanding of what they do. One officer came to us and asked if he could start a mentorship program in the Grayhawk community. They also provide counseling services. They are always willing to go above and beyond the scope of their own jobs to support the families they work with."
