Niskayuna and East Greenbush Re-valuations and assessments

The towns of Niskayuna and East Greenbush have each just completed revals of their properties. It seems there are many disgruntled homeowner's in both towns upset with their new  property valuations. It is important to keep in mind, just because your assessed value went up your taxes won't necessarily go up. You won't know until the final tax rate is released. If you are not happy you generally have until 5/27 to dispute your assessment. You can do this either on the overall value or on the basis that you are inequitably assessed in relation to other similar homes. Based on what we have seen it appears both towns have some serious errors in the  valuation process. Hopefully they will be corrected during the review process with each homeowner. Homeowners you still have time but you need to get moving!
