Energy Crisis, Decline in the Housing Market- Here's to You Walt Disney

Reading all the blogs the past few day about gas prices, the housing market decline, the economy... IT all seems pretty negative. Worlds away from my week in DisneyWorld two weeks ago. You would expect that with the economy in such a shambles that people would be staying home and counting pennies. During our recent trip the place was packed. Not a room to be acquired in all the Disney Resorts. From the empty parking lots it was obvious that everyone flew and took advantage of Disney Magical Express and transportation systems. It sort of puts a different spin on the enery crisis, failing economy, and our war on terrorism that the "Happiest Place on Earth (DisneyWorld)" is thriving- We Americans are resilient, and live with great hope. We may be down but not for long- we continue to live life with love, hope and joy. We bounce back. Walt Disney was a man with a great vision- Imagining the impossible....What a great lesson. Here's to You Walt Disney- a great American Hero.

Barbara,

Americans indeed are resilient...and we will come out of this a little scarred perhaps, but all the stronger for it...I have great hope in the younger generation...they are smarter, better looking, more free spirited, stronger, and fearless!!! Thanks,   Fran

Somedays there seems to be no end and no limit to the topics and subjects that our colorful media must "dust with doom and gloom"; OH MY; last evening a local station highlighted the difficult times our local restauranteurs are having.  Fuel prices continue to skyrocket; ingredients have doubled and tripled; yet menus reflect ZERO increases.

I flipped to another station and the subject was our local food pantries and what critical stages they are in. Folks are having a tough time; therefore less is being donated. Turn the dial on my car radio and I listen to all the horses that are just being thrown away, communities are opening their back doors in the morning to find; NOT a stray cat? but a horse?

Crazy stuff going on; and it takes complete FAITH to encourage others to SMILE, and REMAIN POSITIVE.

Want to really get a chuckle? Are you like me, after listening to all the MANIA out there; and wondering WHAT IS THE TRUTH?  I challenge you to sit outside a BEST BUY and see all the money being spent on electronics and technology and then ONE wonders? Hmmmm   WOW; priorities America, priorities? It can't be All that bad IF "we" can continue to spend hundreds of dollars a month on movies, music and mp3 players? RIGHT?

Its all too CURIOUS ISN'T IT???  Perhaps Walt was the finest visionary ever!

Hi Fran- I look in the eyes of my grandchildren and know the world will be a better place because of them...

Patty- Yep it is all about priorities. I wish I had a smidgen of Walt's vision. We need more Walt Disney's.

Thank you both
