Serendipity Sundays - Peacocks
When traveling we visit many historic sites. This is from an old plantation near Charlestown. The peacocks run wild here. They wander and barely even notice the visitors around. The male peacock is known for his bright colored feathers and love strutting to attract a female partner. They also like to admire themselves. None of them Spread their feathers for us that day.
Many parents, children and photographers were soaking it in that day. I was one of the photographers and glad that the birds came so close. There were some not so pretty peacocks and we were told they were albino. With their bland color and lack of pizazz I wonder if they are ignored or get the leftovers from the eligible partners.
My friend had a peacock visit here home a few years ago. She had no idea if he wandered off or if someone had dropped him off. At first she was glad to see him as he spread his feathers and did his dance right by her patio doors. He also left little presents on the patio and by the pool which require picking up on a daily basis. After a couple of weeks she called an area farmer to come and get him. She had had all she wanted of the peacock his droppings and presents.
