Raising Your Bar

According to the National Association of REALTORS®, there were 1,255,619 active members as of June 1st.  This figure does not include licensees, like myself, who are not members of NAR, but who hold active licenses.  I cannot imagine how many more that represents, but suffice it to say we have lots of real estate licensees in this country!  So, you might agree that raising your bar is necessary to stand out from the myriad of other agents in your area.

Our country grew out of visions of entrepreneurial spirits.  Back in the earliest days of this nation, men dreamed of owning a piece of our country and having the means with which to pay for it.  From the livery stables, the general stores, the haberdasheries, down to the butchers, the bakers, and the candlestick makers came entrepreneurs.  Today, many people are employed by others, which is not a bad thing, but that dream of owning one’s own company is still alive and well in some of us.  The practice of real estate allows many to achieve that dream, but now they are faced with having to raise their own bars because of the increase in the number of people practicing.

Raising your bar means putting yourself ahead of your competitors, and the challenges of doing that can be huge.  You must figure out what will set you apart from others.  You must find your one thing that will cause consumers to take notice and to trust you to help them.  For TEAM Hughes Real Estate School, our one thing that sets us apart from the competition is our One-Week Fast Track Real Estate Class.  We’ve developed an attitude like Ray Kroc, the founder of McDonald’s, who likened his business philosophy to a 3-legged stool.  For us, our 3-legged stool consists of our presentation, our instructors and our students.  We do the same thing over and over, no matter the location, and it has proven to be successful.

Raising your bar means developing systems that will be repeated with each consumer, whether a buyer or a seller even if the property is low priced or very expensive.  Once you have your systems in place, you must be consistent.  This may take time, but it will be worth it.  Eventually, you will be remembered for your systems and consumers will begin seeking you out.  Your best marketing tool is your customer.  Treat consumers right, and they will speak highly about you.  TEAM Hughes believes in treating each student as carefully as we would want to be treated, and no students come into our classes without knowing how much we appreciate them.

Raising your bar means setting yourself apart, and only you can figure out how to accomplish that.  We can help by giving advice, but in the end, you are the one.  If you want to get a better start, consider TEAM Hughes as your first connection to a license.  We will walk you through the process and help as much as possible.  Contact us today and let’s do it together.
