You Know You're a Horse Person When . . . .

You know you're a horse person when . . . .

 - You save the hoof shavings for the dog.

- You drive by ANY field ANYWHERE and look very hard for horses.

- You cannot imagine why anyone would think it kinky to own whips.

- You have more pictures of horses in your office than you have of your family.

- You buy carrots 5 lbs. at a time.

- You hate to get up early . . . unless you have a riding lesson or a horse show.

- Jointed stirrups amuse you.

- You buy a car, your first question is "Can my saddle fit in the trunk?"

BLR Guy:

You never know.  With the gas prices rapidly rising, we may end up with horses for transportation.  LOL

Brigita,  This is so funny.......and true........I'm a horse lover/owner and I get the humor, loud and clear.  I forwarded this to a friend in Arizona who will understand it all.......she saves the clippings for her dogs.  Happy Trails!

You know you are a horse person when you feed your 30 year old mare four times a day and arranging the other horses so that the old lady can get her food consumes another hour of your day.

Hi, Pat!

It certainly is true!  If your friend in Arizona is a true horseperson, she will enjoy reading these and definitely understand.  Enjoy your horses.  :-)

Sabrina,

I know exactly what you mean.  I've done it myself.  I took good care of my old guy until his last day.  My neighbors were amazed at how happy my horses always were (and still are).

Glad to see your old girl has a good home.  :-)

Fancy is summer pasture fat and happy right now. All of the early mornings and late nights have paid off at last. I caught her being frisky with a deer down by the pond only a couple of days ago. Who would have thought that the two species would actually make a game of a late afternoon frolic.

Sabrina:

Great to hear she has weight on her, is quite frisky and is happy as can be.

Funny, I've seen horses run with the deer, too.  Maybe because they are similar in the fact that they are animals of flight?  Or maybe because they both enjoy running and jumping as play??  Go figure.  At least they are having fun.  :-)

Patrice:

My husband doesn't get it either.  You have to be a true horse person to understand.

Don't forget the custom made black chaps and your whips!LOL!!!!!

You know that you have a knowledgeable buyer when he wants to make an offer because he likes the BARN better than the house!!!!!

06/11/2008 10:39 PM by Anne Clark (Long & Foster)

Anne:

Now how could I forget that?  I'm just as bad.  I usually take a closer look at the barn than the house.  LOL

06/12/2008 07:20 AM by Brigita McKelvie - Lehigh Valley, PA, Residential & Horse Properties (Vision Realty Group)

Oh, hey, most of my buyers think the barn is more important than the house. It's one of my selling points that I understand that this is the case, and why.

I did hear of one man, the husband of a friend, who fell in love with the house.  He told his wife that if she'd let him by that property with that house, she could build any barn she wanted.  She took him up on it, and built TWO absolutely wonderful Barns!

Tricia:

I have buyers like that myself.  My one buyer has more interest in the layout of the property so that horses may be kept and a barn built, rather than what the house looks like.

This was cute. I've known horse people and this is oh so true!

Besides, what else would whips be used for? I don't understand! smileys
