Just 15 miles west of Denver in the town of Morrison Colorado you will see Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater. This is a gorgeous sight with huge red rocks jetting out of the earth.
In 1941, the City and County of Denver opened the amphitheater, even though it was privately opened in 1906, which is a geological phenomenon. This is the only geologically formed, open-air amphitheater in the world. The amphitheater seats 9,525 guests. The park is gracefully spread over 640 acres of beautiful rolling hills with red rock formations jetting up from the earth.
Many people visit the Park to run the steps of the amphitheater. It is not uncommon to see folks in yoga poses or running up and down the rows so they can get their exercise in harmony with the beautiful surroundings.
Gradual earth movement caused the sandstone ledges to rise from the prehistoric ocean floor. It truly is a site to see. At an altitude of 6,450 ft. you can see downtown Denver in the distance.
Red Rocks is located at 17598 W. Alameda Parkway in Morrison, Colorado.
Each year, Red Rocks attracts artists from around the world. The earliest rock and roll performance at Red Rocks was The Beatles
on August 26, 1964.
