Other Ways to Keep Your Havasu Home Secure While You're Away

While a Lake Havasu Vacation Security Check provides peace of mind, it isn't the only ways to keep your Havasu home secure while you're away.

Put a Hold on Your Mail - Contact the post office to temporarily hold your mail, even if it's just for the weekend.  Likewise for any automatic deliveries, such as newspapers, mail orders or bottled water deliveries.  Thieves check mailboxes to see how much is inside.  They also use it to steal your identity.

Hire a Pet Sitter - Instead of boarding your animals while you're on vacation, hire a pet sitter to come to your home.  A dog provides natural security while you're gone.  And, with a sitter coming to the house every day, they keep an eye out for suspicious activity as well.  Also, regular activity to and from your home keeps thieves away.  If you do board your dog, secure your doggy door from outside entry.

No Spare Keys - Hide-a-key sounds great for anyone prone to losing their house key.  However, they're gold for thieves.  Spare keys should stay with you and your loved ones, not under the welcome mat or under a potted plant.

Add a Security System - Many companies offer great security services.  Some provide alarms.  Others include cameras.  Keyless entries can be added to the front, back and interior or exterior garage doors.  If you do utilize a keyless entry system, wipe the entry pads down before you leave.  Smart thieves use the oily residue from your fingertips to ascertain your key code.  Ask your neighbors, family, friends, co-workers or the police department for recommendations.

Last, but not least, always lock your doors, gates and windows.  This may seem like a no-brainer.  But, it's easy to forget this when you're in a hurry.  Take a moment to make sure this crucial task is done before you take off.  Partner these tips with the Lake Havasu Vacation Security Check and you won't have to worry about your home's security while you're gone.
