Hurricane Preparedness - Part II - Boarding Up

Hurricane preparedness can also involve boarding your home up! If you are buying or renovating, consider having shutters installed! They will protect your windows during a storm and make your life a lot easier! They are also good to close the place up and protect it if you are gone on vacation!

If you have to board up your windows, it is like everything else concerning hurricane preparedness - DON'T WAIT TOO LONG! The supply stores run out of sheets of plywood early! Everyone else is doing the same thing!

You may want to invest in a generator if you are a homeowner. If power does go out, you will have your own! Remember to run it OUTSIDE! Use common sense and you will be fine. Don't use a grill inside! Your electricity may be out but you still need to grill outside!

Hurricanes are a fact of life! Being prepared is just common sense! You know they are coming DAYS before they arrive, so just listen to your local tv channel for advice on what to do. If they say evacuate, GET OUT!

If you are going to go to a hotel out of town and have pets, be sure you have already lined up a list of places that accept pets. Many do not! Don't wait to make those reservations! Being prepared is the key!
