Some Statistics on the Internet!!

I wanted to send you some statistics I found interesting.  If you do not know by now I am a numbers person so here are a few:

•·         Leadstreet receives 3.8 Million Leads Nationally.

•·         There are 2.9 Million Visitors Per Month at www.REMAX.com

•·         REMAX.com has the largest percentage of listings on their website with 94%

•·         REMAX.com is the #2 real estate website behind Realtor.com

•·         57% of Realtor's transactions come from referrals of friends, family or clients.

•·         10% of Realtor's transactions come from the Internet

•·         4% of Realtor's transactions come from Open houses

•·         Of the Internet Buyers 69% used the first agent they interviewed to buy their home.

•·         On the average an internet buyer takes 6-9 months to purchase a home

•·         Of Internet Leads 54% were not motivated and just looking

•·         42% will definitely purchase but not as of yet

•·         4% are ready immediately to purchase

•·         81% of buyers nationally search homes on the internet

•·         Of those 81%, 95% of those buyers searched on realtor.com during their search

 

What does this tell us?  We have to react immediately, and we have to follow up consistently even if we receive no response.  We should follow up until they tell us not to.  We want to be there when they go to make a decision as statistics show above that they choose the first person interviewed.  I am amazed at how many real estate agents ignore the internet and promoting their websites.  We as real estate agents are a brand name we need to get our name out there.  In this market it is important to do what other agents are not.  Do you know less than 5% of real estate agents blog.  Less than 1% of real estate agents do podcasting or upload video onto their websites.  The answer that I always get when I ask why do you not do these things is I do not know how to, and I do not have time for it.  I guess we do not have time to get a consistent stream of income.  We need to make time.  It is kind of like going to the gym.  When asked, including me, why do you not go to the gym and exercise, we say we do not have time for it.  We waste more time during the day than we are productive.  If you think how many times we get caught up into conversations with family, friends, and coworkers we could work out for 5 hours a day.  I know I got off the subject, but I strongly believe if you are not preparing for leads and business in the future then you will be left behind.  There are a lot of real estate agents that have gotten out of the business.  They were not getting business so they are working for a third of what they would be making in the real estate business not because they could not make it, but because they did not plan for the future.  We need to plan for the future.  We need to change the attitude of ourselves and our colleagues.  This is a great market, and we should be happy to be in it.  I hope all of us tries a little harder this week to plan for the future.  Good Luck to everyone!!
