Book Recommendation: Testimony by Scott Turow

Testimony (2017) is a legal thriller about an American prosecutor's investigation of a refugee camp's mystifying disappearance by The New York Times bestselling author Scott Turow. Dolores and I enjoyed this novel and recommend it for your reading list. Click on the links to learn more about the author and his books.

"Bill ten Boom has walked out on everything he thought was important to him: his career, his wife, Kindle County, even his country. Still, when he is tapped to examine the disappearance of an entire Gypsy refugee camp—unsolved for ten years—he feels drawn to what will become the most elusive case of his career.

In order to uncover what happened during the apocalyptic chaos after the Bosnian War, Boom must navigate a host of suspects ranging from Serb paramilitaries to organized crime gangs to the U.S. government, while also maneuvering among the alliances and treacheries of those connected to the case: Morgan Merriwell, a disgraced U.S. Major General; Ferko Rincic, the massacre's sole survivor; and Esma Czarni, an alluring barrister with secrets to protect."

Be well prepared for very hot weather.

Remember your pets.
Hot weather can affect the well-being of pets making them susceptible to overheating which can lead to very dangerous heat stroke. Always provide a source of water and a cool, ventilated place for your pet. Leaving your pet inside a parked car, even for a few minutes, can be fatal. The inside of a car can reach 120 degrees in a matter of minutes.

Take the Online Citizen Surveysurvey
Gaithersburg is conducting a biennial citizen survey and all who live, work or do business in the City are invited to participate. The electronic survey is available through November 3. Results will be combined with those of the scientifically sampled mail-in survey conducted earlier this fall, and will be presented to the Mayor and City Council in January. Survey results help elected officials and City staff prioritize initiatives and direct resources appropriately. The more feedback the City receives the better programs and services can be tailored to meet the needs of the community. See results of past surveys here.
