Through the long Florida summer, I love to share my favorite drinks with my friends and neighbors. And I certainly can’t leave you out of the fun! For those of you who have travelled to Southwest Florida or who already live here, you know how hot it can get. But instead of complaining, we locals take time to enjoy it! In a way, we become connoisseurs in the art of refreshing drinks. After all, when you own a home here, you never know when you might have friends stop by or need a tasty drink yourself. All of these grown up options are perfect for a summertime backyard party too!
With golf being an enjoyable pastime here in SWFL, it was probably fate that the Arnold Palmer would become popular. This adult version, also called a John Daly, is deliciously cool when its packed with extra ice.
Where else could this one have been born but in Florida? Served in a copper mug at a near-freezing temperature, this mix of vodka, soda water, ginger juice, lime, and ice is sure to refresh.
Classy, flavorful, and especially right for the backyard, a white wine sangria is a flexible drink. In fact, you can add in any of your favorite Florida fruits and let it steep as long as you like.
This one is enjoyable for Sunday summer brunch and remains a popular one in Southwest Florida. As you can imagine, our orange juice in Florida can be incredibly yummy. Once you turn it into this upscale drink, you’re in heaven.
This delicious drink is as simple as it sounds: muddled strawberries in lemonade, soda water, and a touch of your favorite liquor. Served on ice, it’s cool and sweet. The best part is that you can even make a non-alcoholic version too!
While the regular mojito is fairly refreshing on its own, adding fresh cucumber only ups the taste. Sophisticated, but mellow and light, yet appetizing, this drink is at home in Southwest Florida or just about anywhere.
I must admit that I grabbed this one from another place, but gave it my own grown up twist. These watermelon slushies, with amazing fresh watermelon, are even that much better with a touch of vodka.
Of course, what drink list is complete in Florida without a margarita? This is my own creation that you simply must try. Made similarly to a regular margarita, it adds some grapefruit juice to give it a particularly Southwest Florida feel that I just love.
Buying a home in Southwest Florida and looking for ways to beat the heat? My team has plenty of tips for you!
